Morpeth Man Wins CKHA 50/50 Draw

A Morpeth man is more than $50,000 richer, thanks to a fundraiser in support of local health care.

Staff from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation tracked down George Kernohan at work in Ridgetown Thursday afternoon to surprise him with the good news that he was the winner of the Igniting Healthcare 50/50 draw, and presented him with a cheque for $50,860.

Kernohan said he was shocked, and plans to share his winnings with his family and potentially take a trip in the near future.

“I’ve supported the hospital 50/50s for years, but I never thought that would happen,” Kernohan said. “It was obviously worth it, and now I can buy some more tickets and keep supporting our hospital!”

Proceeds from the Igniting Healthcare fundraiser continue to support the highest priority needs at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, enabling ongoing investments in vital medical equipment and infrastructure upgrades across local hospital sites.

CKHAF staff are already preparing for the next Igniting Healthcare Summer 50/50, launching in August.
