The Walpole Island First Nation Adult Mosquito surveillance has confirmed that in mosquitoes collected from the community on Wednesday, September 14, 2021 have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The results were tested and reconfirmed.
This matches the similar results that have been seen in neighbouring Chatham-Kent.
Lambton County Health Unit has not reported any positive mosquitos this season.
Public Health is stressing that personal protective measures are extremely important this time of year.
