Motorist in Fatal Crash Sentenced to Six Years in Jail

A Walpole Island man will be spending the next six years behind bars for his role in a deadly crash that claimed the lives of two cyclists.

The morning of June 22, 2022, 36-year-old Michelle White and 50-year-old Gretta Williams, were riding bikes on River Road when they were struck and killed.

Delsin Wade Johnson-Shipman was arrested two and a half months later, charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while impaired causing death and two counts of dangerous operation causing death.

Investigators say Johnson-Shipman had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time.

Justice Mark Poland handed down the 23-year-old’s sentence in a Sarnia courtroom yesterday.
