Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Bev Shipley wants to clear the air surrounding his government’s controversial proposed anti-terrorism bill.
Shipley says bill C51 would protect Canada in a very different world than the one we are used to. One with terrorist threats on home soil.
“We’ve had a few of those, after the 22nd of October. There was Edmonton. It’s very clear threats have come to Canada,” says Shipley. “There seems to be some concern that if you increase security you’re taking away people’s freedoms. I don’t believe that.”
The Government of Canada’s proposed legislation has met criticism that it is too far reaching, vague and infringes on the rights of law abiding Canadians.
