A local roofing company is upgrading its operations.

Enviroshake is investing over $4.7 million to boost local manufacturing capacity and create six new jobs in Chatham-Kent.

The composite roofing manufacturer will be installing new equipment to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and expand production capacity. Officials say the upgrades, including the addition of a new production line, will help the company increase output and strengthen their competitiveness.

“Enviroshake’s investment will strengthen manufacturing in Chatham-Kent, increase the supply of Ontario-made building materials for our housing sector while creating more good-paying jobs for workers and families in our community,” said Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones in a news release.

The company is also receiving some support from the Ontario government. The province is chipping in $500,000 through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF).

“We’re grateful for the government support that’s helping us invest in new equipment and expand our manufacturing capabilities,” added Ashley Smith, President of Enviroshake. “This investment will strengthen our manufacturing capabilities, and position us for continued innovation and expansion.”
