No injuries have been reported following a house fire near Blenheim.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue crews responded to property near the intersection of Charing Cross Road and Talbot Trail in Cedar Springs just before 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building.
Stations 18 (Blenheim), 14 (Erieau), and 16 (Raleigh South) responded, with support from Chatham Kent Police, CK EMS, Hydro One, and Enbridge Gas to isolate utilities and assist with scene operations.
Officials say the single-storey, multi-unit property was under renovation, and its layout and state of construction made finding the origin of the fire particularly challenging. However, the flames were brought under control and firefighters remained on scene for an extended period to ventilate the building and check for hot spots.
Damage is estimated at $75,000. The cause remains undetermined.
