Two people are facing charges following a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Shortly before 2:30 Monday afternoon, officers responded to a McNaughton Avenue East address and say a man and woman had been arguing when things turned violent.

Police say a search of the woman turned up a large amount of various suspected controlled substances and Canadian currency. Drug paraphernalia, 19 cell phones, and a conducted energy weapon were also seized.

A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault. He was released with conditions and a date in court next month.

The woman, a 32-year-old from Chatham, is facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, six counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and nine counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was taken to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
