A pair of truck drivers are facing charges after two separate collisions on Highway 401 in the Lakeshore area.

The Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to the eastbound lanes of the highway between French Line Road and Lakeshore Road 123 after a transport truck hauling a large hydraulic dump trailer struck an overhead sign shortly before 8:35 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers arrived at the scene to find the overhead sign lying on the highway and that it had also damaged a passenger vehicle when it fell.

While traffic was slowed to a stop due to the collision, a second crash occurred when a tractor trailer rear-ended another transport truck.

While no injuries were reported following the first crash, a driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene of the second collision.

As a result of the two incidents, a 47-year-old Windsor man and a 34-year-old Brampton man have both been charged with careless driving.

The eastbound lanes were closed for around five hours while the scene was cleared of the vehicles and debris.
