Municipal Election Spending

Financial figures have been released for last fall’s municipal election.

According to the Municipality’s website, the majority of candidates filed their campaign expenses, including Mayor Darrin Canniff who spent over $60,000, and runner-up Alysson Storey at $41,000.

In their statements, both Canniff and Storey raised most of their funds through donations, and spent most of it on online advertising, signs, and brochures.

Wallaceburg Councillors Aaron Hall and Carmen McGregor spent $2,200 and $4,000 respectively.

Missing from the list is former mayor Randy Hope who did not file on time and is not eligible to run for office in the 2022 election.
