Municipal officials are gearing up for the 2025 construction season with a project planned for a section of downtown Chatham.

An online public information centre is being hosted through the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website with details of the reconstruction of King Street West from Second Street to Lacroix Street, and the replacement of the watermain on First Street, from King Street West to Wellington Street. The project will also include traffic signal work at the intersection of King Street West and Lacroix Street.

Officials say the plans are part of the municipality’s efforts to eliminate combined sewers, separating storm and sanitary sewers in the area.

Local residents are invited to share their thoughts with the municipality by January 22.

Officials hope to have the project out for tender in February. Construction is anticipated to be part of the 2025 construction season and be completed in Spring 2026.
