Unionized employees at a Wallaceburg retirement home have ratified a new three-year contract with their employer.
RPNs, personal support workers, dietary aides, housekeeping, laundry, concierge, and maintenance staff at Oaks Retirement Village voted unanimously in favour of the new collective agreement.
“The union bargaining committee did an excellent job of determining members’ priorities and achieving them in negotiations with the employer,” say union representative Ryan Griffioen, in a news release. “We’re pleased that the membership voted unanimously to endorse the settlement.”
The new contract provides the 73 employees with 3.5 per cent wage increases each year of the agreement, as well as increases to the pension plan, sick days, shift premiums, and in-lieu-of-benefits premium.
Oaks Retirement Village employees are represented by the Southwestern Ontario Healthcare and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303.
