The Ontario government has reached a tentative agreement with the bargaining teams representing school boards and principals across the province.

The deal was recently reached between the government and the Ontario Principals’ Council, Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario and Association des directions et directions adjointes des écoles franco-ontariennes for principals and vice-principals.

As well, the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association, Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques and Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l’Ontario also came to an agreement on a new contract with the province.

The term of the tentative agreement is four years, which will apply from 2023 to 2027.

All associations will undergo separate ratification processes for the agreement over the next several weeks.

There are around 8,000 full-time equivalent, non-unionized principals and vice-principals in Ontario, most of which are members of one of three voluntary associations.
