New Council Gets First Look At The Arena Issue

To build…or not to build. That is the question.

One of the more contentious election issues will come up at the Chatham-Kent council meeting Monday night.

The possibility of building a new twin pad arena in Chatham.

This would replace Memorial Arena, and the William K Erickson Arena.

Last May council asked senior staff to put together some numbers for the incoming council.

There are proposals for a 4200 seat facility and a 2200 seat facility.

Also ideas on cost and funding.

Any hopes of ever landing an OHL team in Chatham-Kent go out the window if they go for the cheaper 2200 seat rink.
