A new transit service running between Detroit and Toronto will soon be making a stop in Chatham.
Megabus, a daily express bus service that offers transit options across Canada and the United States, will be launching a new route beginning on April 5, which will include daily stops in Chatham, London, and Windsor.
“Increasing community connectivity is a great catalyst for business,” said Stuart McFadden, the municipality’s director of Economic Development Services. “Our new partnership with Megabus is a great opportunity for Chatham-Kent, for our local economy, and will certainly help accelerate the growth we’re already experiencing.”
The low-cost bus service will run two trips per day, seven days a week between Toronto and Detroit. The route was made possible through a partnership with the inter-city travel provider Trailways of New York.
“The addition of this route provides low-cost travel opportunities for our own residents as well as those wishing to visit Chatham-Kent,” said Chris Thibert, CK’s director of engineering, in a news release.
Megabus will utilize the Downtown Chatham Transfer Terminal used by Ride CK, providing a central pick-up and drop-off location.
