New Digs For Local Pride Group

Chatham-Kent Pride is looking for a bigger presence in the community and has purchased a building in downtown Chatham.

The local gay pride association also looking for a safe space to welcome programming events and community space for LGBTQ members and family.

The building on Centre street is currently being renovated.

“This is an exciting time for Chatham-Kent,” says Pride Association President Marianne Willson. “This space will help so many youth, members and families in Chatham-Kent, and will go a long way toward making our community inclusive and safe for all.”

It’s all possible because of a generous donation from former Chatham resident Bill Brokenshire.

He grew up in Chatham but moved to Toronto as an adult. He wanted to help create a safe space in the community.

Brokenshire passed away in 2018.
