Residents in the Wallaceburg area who have been left without a family doctor will soon be introduced to the community’s newest physician.
The Wallaceburg Community Fundraising Team and the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team have recruited Dr. Adebisi Ogundipe to the Wallaceburg site.
Dr. Ogundipe graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University College of Health Sciences in Nigeria, and has been practicing in the United Kingdom for the majority of her career.
Chatham-Kent’s newest physician will be moving to the municipality with her family this summer and will be joining the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team as of August 1, providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to individuals across all stages of life.
Dr. Ogundipe said she has been considering a move to Canada for the past four years. One of her friends moved to Alberta and raved about the quality of life, sense of community, and autonomy for family medicine practices.
“When I came to visit my friend last June in Chatham-Kent, I really felt at home,” Ogundipe said. “She was thriving, she was doing really well, and I really loved the environment. I just felt like this is a place I could see myself living in and enjoying.”
Previous patients of the Wallaceburg office who were left without a doctor following the departure of their physician have been sent letters explaining how to apply for Dr. Ogundipe’s practice.
All other interested patients can register with Health Care Connect online or by calling 1-800-445-1822.
