Chatham-Kent’s newest family doctors are now practicing and accepting new patients.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said there are now five new physicians working at the local family health teams in Chatham, Wheatley, Blenheim, and Wallaceburg. This includes Dr. Kaelan Harwood, Dr. Adebisi Ogundipe, Dr. Paige Parent, Dr. Syed Shah, and Dr. Adib Shamsuddin.
Municipal officials said these new physicians represent continued progress toward improving access to primary care through local recruitment efforts and collaboration across the local healthcare sector.
In 2025, around $100,000 in municipal funds were used to support incentive programs designed to attract new family physicians to the local community.
CK Council initially approved the physician incentive program in November 2024, establishing a reserve of $140,000 per year through 2027.
Residents without a family physician are encouraged to register through Healthcare Connect or by calling 1-800-445-1822.
