A new modular health care clinic has opened its doors in Bothwell.

As part of a four-year deal with the municipality, the clinic operated by the CarePartners/Community Nursing Service is parked at the Bothwell Arena. The clinic celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday, but has been accepting patients for the last four or five months.

The 55-foot trailer includes an accessible entrance with a ramp, a fully accessible washroom, a self-contained water system, and one full-sized treatment room.

The nursing clinic also offers a full range of referral services including, but not limited to, wound care, IV, central line and catheter care.

“The other benefit to what we’ve done is that clinicians built this,” said Jodi Phillips, vice president of patient care and operations with CarePartners. “Nurses actually built this. They were brought through the process to determine where is the best place to put this or that, what do you need in the clinic?”

The state-of-the-art facility employs one full-time and two part-time nurses, who provide around 60 hours of care per week.

In addition to the new facility in Bothwell, CarePartners currently operates nearby clinics in Petrolia, Sarnia and Chatham.

“We have 24 clinics across the province. This is the first-ever modular clinic. And I think the key to this is that it can be dropped anywhere, it has all the services required,” said Phillips.

Previously published figures from Public Health state there are roughly 20,000 Chatham-Kent residents without a primary care provider.
