The municipality’s attraction efforts are expanding to include a job search service.
They’ve launched a new initiative called the baCK to CK Student Connection.
The plan is to create a database of names and details for job seekers, and when an employer contacts the municipality about a job fair or other opportunity.
Victoria Bodnar, Coordinator of Resident Attraction and Retention says when a job fair or an opportunity to network arises, they’ll let you know.
“We’re asking students why they’re going away, if they have gone away, and maybe they’ve already graduated or they’re coming up on graduation – just to tell us what their interests are or what they’re studying. From there, employers will e-mail us about upcoming job fairs or opportunities within certain sectors, and we’ll be able to send out emails directed to students based on what their interests are,” explains Bodnar.
