Lambton Kent Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton says long term care solutions are desperately needed in rural Ontario, and that includes Chatham-Kent.

McNaughton announced 49 new beds and 203 renovated beds form a trio of communities in Lambton Kent Middlesex this week, but none in CK.

“It’s very important in our rural communities, people want to live close to home,” McNaughton says. “I met at lady today who actually was from Dresden, she’s not in a long term care home in Strathroy because that’s where there was a bed available. But she’s very happy, she’s still within the rural area.”

McNaughton says his government plans on adding 15,000 long term care beds over five years, and some of those will come to Chatham-Kent in the future.

“There’s a lot more beds, nearly 7500 more beds that will e announced in the time ahead, but we’re moving as quickly as possible to make these announcements and get shovels in the ground.”
