New Manager Named for the Capitol

There’s a changing of the guard coming to the Capitol Theatre.

Heather Slater has been named the new manager of the downtown Chatham venue, and will also be taking a leadership role in the municipality’s cultural development initiatives.

“I’m excited to return home to Chatham-Kent and take on this important role,” Slater says. “I look forward to shaping the future direction of the Capitol and Kiwanis, and engaging with the local theatre groups and all our residents looking for a variety of theatre and entertainment options.”

Born and raised in Chatham-Kent, Slater most recently worked as the Director of Artistic Planning with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and has other arts experience in Toronto, Windsor, and London, England.

The Capitol’s current manager, Lesley Grand, will be retiring in December after 28 years of managing both the Kiwanis and Capitol theatres.
