A permanent stoplight is going to be installed in Charing Cross.
The existing stoplight is temporary and was installed by the Ministry of Transportation during construction on the Hwy 40 overpass.
Councillor Karen Herman says keeping the light won’t cost much more than what municipal officials recommended.
“$175,000 is the total cost for the project, so it’s $25,000 more than what they were proposing,” Herman says. “The proposal was to rejig the stop signs and that just is not going to fly with the users of that intersection.”
Herman says the permanent stoplight will be installed in the new year.
