New School Outbreak, CK’s COVID Cases Rise

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Ursuline College. Two cases have been linked at the Chatham high school, both in the same cohort of classes. However, officials say no other students or staff are required to isolate as a result of the second case.

Meanwhile, public health is reporting a jump in COVID numbers today with 15 new cases and only five resolved, raising the total active caseload to 66.

The outbreak at Meadow Park Nursing Home has been declared over, but officials are still keeping tabs on three workplaces and Hudson Manor in Tilbury.

For just the second time since the pandemic began, Ontario is reporting more than 4000 new cases of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health says there have been 4227 new cases in the last 24 hours along with 18 more deaths linked to the virus.

Windsor-Essex is adding 70 new cases today and another COVID-related death.

And in Lambton County, public health officials say there have been 46 new infections reported. The region has also issued a warning for anyone who used the Blu Light Taxi Service for more than 15 minutes between March 21st and April 8th – five of the company’s cab drivers have tested positive for COVID.
