New Wallaceburg Crosswalk Coming Soon

A timeline is now in place to have a new pedestrian-activated stop light at the corner of Murray and Reaume in Wallaceburg.

Municipal officials are now accepting proposals from contractors, with a deadline of having the signal installed by November 17th.

“Essentially there’s going to be traffic lights there, but they’re going to be for pedestrian crossing purposes,” says Chris Thibert, Manager of Infrastructure Services. “Part of that project is also going to be the required line work and signage that goes along with that pedestrian signal.”

Council agreed to install the device following a public outcry over the removal of the corner’s four-way stop at the beginning of September.
