A hearing date has been set as the Municipality of Chatham-Kent continues to push back against the reopening of a dormant landfill near Dresden.

York1 Environmental Waste Solutions served the municipality with a court challenge last November, arguing that the proposed development on Irish School Road does not require any land use planning approvals from CK Council.

An initial hearing between York1 Environmental Waste Solutions and the municipality was held at Superior Court in Chatham yesterday, a scheduling step that allowed the parties and the Court to establish a clear process and timeline for how the matter will proceed.

The next hearing has been scheduled to take place on September 21, 2026.
