Chatham-Kent – Essex MPP Rick Nicholls is continuing to pressure the Ontario government to install concrete barriers on the 401.

While Premiere Wynne and the MTO say a barrier is definitely needed in this area, Nicholls says no commitment has been made.

Nicholls also says Ontario PC leader Patrick Brown has already made a statement on the matter.

“Patrick Brown announced [yesterday] that he will build the barriers. He’s on the campaign trail right now, but I’m here to tell you that we want to hold the current government accountable, and if there happens to be a change of government on June 7th, 2017, he has committed to working toward building the concrete barrier”, says Nicholls.

In the meantime, Nicholls has released a new petition urging the current government to seriously consider installing concrete barriers to reduce the severity of collisions on the 401. A copy of the petition can be found on our website.
