A local politician is slamming the premier for her whirlwind trip through Chatham-Kent.
Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls slammed Kathleen Wynne for rushing through the community for a photo-op without taking the time to meet with local families.
The Conservative MPP says with rising hydro rates, Wynne’s visit does nothing to help residents who are paying more for electricity and getting less.
“Why should Ontario ratepayers be on the hook for yet another rate hike when Hydro One clearly has billions of dollars to throw around”, Nicholls asks. “While the Wynne Liberals have remained silent, I was proud to attend hearings on behalf of my constituents and call for the rate hike to be rejected.”
Nicholls also points out the Premier visited a local greenhouse while some in the industry are also facing ballooning costs.
Nicholls accuses the Liberals of being indifferent to the challenges facing the industry, with some being crippled by the province’s cap and trade plan.
