Nearly $12,000 worth of illicit drugs has been seized, and nine people have been arrested following a drug bust in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit and the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a King Street home on Wednesday as part of an ongoing fentanyl trafficking investigation.
During a search, police seized around 51 grams of fentanyl, 27 grams of methamphetamine, and nine oxycodone tablets with a combined estimated street value of $11,900. Authorities also seized seven BB guns, three compound bows, brass knuckles, ammunition, digital scales, packaging materials, Canadian currency, and cell telephones.
As a result, six men and three women from Wallaceburg have each been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of possession of a prohibited weapon. Several of the accused also face charges for breaching court-ordered release conditions, probation orders, or firearms prohibitions.
All nine suspects were held in custody for bail hearings.
