The public school board is doing away with snow days for high school students.

The Lambton Kent District School Board says effective immediately, any time buses are cancelled because of inclement weather, all secondary schools in the affected zones will be closed and students will shift to online learning whether they take the bus or not.

The board says all secondary teachers have been asked to develop an online presence to facilitate student learning. On bus cancellation dates, high school students will get instructions about their transition to remote, teacher-led virtual learning through typical means of communication, including emails and phone calls to parents.

However, if buses are delayed or cancelled in the morning because of fog, schools will remain open for in-person classes.

There’s no change to the policy for elementary schools.
