Municipal officials will not be looking into staffing levels at the fire department, despite concerns raised by one South Kent councillor. 
Frank Vercouteren says with the number of fire calls on the decline, it’s worth investigating.
The motion failed by one vote, and Vercouteren says he’s disappointed:
“I really thought that was the right thing to do when the public are asking these kinds of questions and I don’t have the answers,” Vercouteren says. “I felt that they could have given us a chance and put it on the floor, they had three weeks to come back with the answers.”
Vercouteren says the issue will likely come up during budget time.
