The 100-megawatt North Kent Wind power facility is online.
Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy issued a statement this morning to announce that construction had officially ended and the 34-turbine site is fully operational.
The project wasn’t without its troubles, as early construction was delayed by protest over contaminated water wells.
But officials say Chatham-Kent will benefit for years to come, with North Kent Wind injecting over 40-million dollars in direct spending into the local economy over the next 20 years.
The municipality and Walpole Island First Nation each hold a 15% equity interest in the project.
