The St. Clair Regional Conservation authority is extending the flood watch for the St. Clair River.

The on going ice plug from it’s Southern reach to North of Sombra is a major concern.

Gale-force winds and freezing spray over Lake Huron and high winds over Lake St. Clair have forced a temporary halt to ice breaking efforts due to unsafe conditions.

Residents along the St. Clair River may experience possible shoreline erosion and minor flooding as a result of the ice plug.

Residents are reminded to avoid shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous ice conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water.

Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
