Even though he is no longer a member of the governing Tory caucus, Rick Nicholls will be the target of a protest today.
The Ontario Health Coalition is looking to keep pressure on the Ford government’s handling of the long term health care industry. The group is calling on the Ford government to take immediate action to fast-track increases in care and staffing levels, end for-profit long term care, and enforce standards of care with more thorough and frequent inspections, among other things.
The province wide protests will coincide with the first day of the fall session at Queen’s Park. In Nicholls’ case, the protest outside of his office at 111 Heritage Road begins at noon and all the protests are limited to 100 participants, with social distancing and mask wearing mandatory.
Nicholls was kicked out of the caucus by Premier Doug Ford for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
