The investigation and cleanup continues following an explosion just west of Oil Springs.

The St Clair Township Fire Department says an oil tank containing about 150 barrels of oil exploded around 9 ‘clock last night, near the corner of Brigden Road and Oil Springs Line.

There was no fire and no one was hurt, however the oil soaked into the ground.

The Ministry of Environment was at the scene last night and local public works staff brought in truckloads of sand to dam up the ditches.

An investigator from the Office of the Fire Marshal will be back at the scene this morning as well.

Officials say the oil well owner has a contractor ready to clean up the site once the investigation is completed and the property handed back over.
