Transport Minister Lisa Raitt made the the statement that there will be tougher standards on older rail cars especially the DOT 111 cars that carry dangerous goods like gas and oil, many times though our area. Mayor Randy Hope has been one who thought the DOT 111 cars should be replaced.
The Transport Minister asked for the creation of a task force that will be made up of members from municipalities, first responders, railways and shippers to work on strengthening emergency response capacity across the country.
