Hey guys. It’s Jay checking in with our On The Road travel journal.
My wife and I decided to hit the road recently – quite literally – to celebrate our first anniversary. Destination: Orlando, Florida.
Let’s just put it this way – attempting the approximate 20 hour road-trip from Chatham, Ontario to Orlando, Florida without stopping AFTER a full day of work from both vehicle occupants… not the greatest idea. Although we got along just fine, keeping our eyes open proved to be quite the task. Thank goodness for rest stops, and one inparticular just south of the Kentucky-Tennessee border. Two hours of sleep seemed to do two things : get at least one of us ready to continue driving (thanks Laura! My continued nap was awesome!) and convinced us we would be more than thankful for our planned stop-over in downtown Atlanta, Georgia on the way home!
Remembering that our honeymoon in the Mayan Riviera ,although amazing and beautiful, was somewhat skewed by my lucky Montezuma’s revenge ailment, I thought it might be time to treat my lovely wife to a night of elegance she deserved. Cue the Ritz-Carlton, downtown Atlanta!
This was my first experience at a Ritz-Carlton establishment. One word? Wow!
From the second we encountered the first staff member, to valet drivers, bellhops, front desk personnel and management, we felt as if we were on our honeymoon again. Thanks to the Ritz, I might have actually redeemed myself!
And then there was the actual room. Talk about a home away from home – only much nicer. The care that was put into every inch of our surroundings, plus the down-home hospitality found throughout Georgia was simply one-of-a-kind.
Champagne on ice and chocolate covered strawberries? They knew us well. Must be a radio thing.
We can’t say enough good things about our amazing experience at the Ritz in downtown Atlanta (located on Peachtree Street with easy access). But if you let Laura, she’ll definitely tell you ALL about it.
Conclusion: we’ll be coming back for more!
