An investigation is ongoing after a multi-unit house fire in Chatham claimed the life of one person and sent four others to hospital.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said firefighters responded to the blaze at 24 St. George St. at around 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
Four people were taken to hospital by Chatham-Kent EMS with undisclosed injuries, while another was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters and the Chatham-Kent Police Service remained at the scene early Wednesday afternoon. The Ontario Fire Marshal will also be attending to investigate.
Fire officials said no further details are being released at this time.
