One man is dead, and two other people have been injured after a shooting at Lambton College in Sarnia.
The Sarnia Police Service said officers were called to a campus bar shortly before 1 o’clock Friday morning following a report of gunfire.
Once a firearm was confirmed, authorities said the Emergency Response Team and K9 unit attended the scene to search for any suspects, victims, or weapons.
A Sarnia man was located with gunshot injuries and taken to Bluewater Health. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The victim has since been identified as 20-year-old Dane Nisbet.
Two other young adults also suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot.
Forensic Investigators are currently at the scene and are expected to remain for an extended period of time as the investigation continues.
Police officials said no information has been received that the incident targeted Lambton College or the general crowd in attendance. There is also no information to support any speculation of political motivation in any form.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Lambton College issued a statement this morning, announcing that the campus would be closed all day, and all classes and on-campus activities were cancelled.
