A series of online meetings are being held over the next week to help any local residents facing rental challenges.

Chatham-Kent Employment and Social Services is hosting two Facebook Live events to offer solutions to those who may need help in Landlord and Tennant Board hearings.

Since 2020, all LTB meetings are now held over Zoom, which has created a digital divide for many renters who may lack the technology or technological skills to attend. Municipal officials say when a tenant does not attend an LTB hearing, the judgement is made in favour of the landlord, resulting in unnecessary evictions.

Phillip Mock, Executive Director of Vision Us will be moderating a discussion with Douglas Kwan, director of advocacy and legal services for the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario and Jeff Wilkins, Paralegal/Housing Stability Worker with the Chatham-Kent Legal Clinic.

The first session is being held at noon today, followed by another event at 7pm on March 27th. CLICK HERE for the link to take part.
