Ontario Government Hits Reset

Steven Del Duca, Minister of Economic Development and Growth stopped in Chatham-Kent on March 8th, including a round-table meeting at the Sons of Kent brewery.

A new session of provincial parliament opens today after Premier Kathleen Wynne prorogued – or reset – the legislature last week.

Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, with deliver a Throne Speech today.

Minister of Economic Development and Growth Steven Del Duca was in Chatham last week, and says the speech will outline the government’s priorities for this session.

“We’ve had some really exceptional economic growth and a really great economic story here in the province,” Del Duca says. “Having a Throne Speech helps reset and refocus our efforts, and helps convey a message to the people of Ontario that we take the challenges that are facing the province seriously, but we recognize there are significant opportunities as well.”

All government bills and motions introduced before prorogation will be reintroduced as soon as the legislature resumes.

Opposition parties say proroguing the government is nothing more than a ploy to try to wipe the Liberals’ slate clean.

Today’s Throne Speech comes just over three months before Ontarians head to the polls in June.
