Three people are facing charges following an inter-jurisdictional investigation into a stolen trailer.
Officials with Elgin OPP say a report was filed just before 6:30 Tuesday morning about an enclosed trailer that had been stolen form a Talbot Line business in Central Elgin, containing various tools and equipment.
Just over an hour later, the trailer was spotted on Longwoods Road in Chatham-Kent.
Two people were taken into custody without incident.
Authorities say using K9 Helix and the CKPS drone, officers were able to locate the third suspect trying to hide in tall weeds and mud in the Thames River. He was taken to hospital as a precaution because of a pre-existing medical condition.
A 47-year-old man from London has been charged with theft over $5000, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000 and one count of possession of stolen property under $5000.
A 50-year-old London man is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000, one count of possession of stolen property under $5000, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
A 36-year-old Strathroy woman is facing two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000 and one count of possession of stolen property under $5000.
