As part of a 24-hour safety blitz, OPP Constable Jay Denorer says officers will be checking the safety of the vehicles themselves as well as ensuring driver log books are properly filled out.

“In the Chatham-Kent area what we’re going to be doing is if it’s not going to be at the MTO weigh scales, then we’ll have people out roving around and just checking trucks as they’re driving by” Denorer says. “If they see something that is very deficient, then that vehicle will be stopped and the equipment checked.”

Denorer says if someone spots a commercial vehicle they believe may be unsafe, they can dial *OPP to report it.
