Those celebrating over the Easter holiday weekend are being reminded to make safe and responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel.
The Ontario Provincial Police will be conducting a seatbelt safety campaign over the long weekend in an effort to reduce the number of occupant restraint-related deaths and injuries on provincial roads.
Failing to wear a seatbelt caused or was a contributing factor in the deaths of 60 people involved in collisions on OPP-patrolled roads last year.
MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) has also issued a reminder to the public to always plan ahead when consuming alcohol. The group is urging everyone to avoid getting behind the wheel if impaired and to never get into a vehicle being operated by an impaired driver.
Those needing a ride home are encouraged to call a cab or a rideshare service.
