OPP Nab Alleged Multi-Jurisdictional Car Thief

Charges have been laid following a series of incidents spanning two counties.

Provincial Police say over the course of three days last week, the accused was involved in a serious collision, rammed two police cruisers, and was allegedly involved in multiple vehicle thefts in Huron and Middlesex County.

A suspect was eventually arrested with support from OPP officers in Middlesex and Huron County and the Elgin-Middlesex and Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Units.

The 25-year-old Lucan man is facing various charges, including two counts each of assaulting a peace offer with a weapon, dangerous driving, and failing to stop after an accident; six counts of vehicle theft; two counts of arson; and driving while impaired by drugs, among other offences.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
