A local police officer has another accolade to add to a prestigious career.

Governor General Julie Payette presided over last week’s Order of Merit of the Police Forces ceremony in Ottawa.

Among the 36 Members of the Order was Chatham-Kent’s Deputy Police Chief, Jeff Littlewood.

The Order recognizes exceptional service or performance of duty over an extended period.

Littlewood began his policing career in 1984, joining what was then the Chatham Police Force. He took over the Deputy Chief role in July 2015.

Since 2009, Littlewood has worked closely with an aboriginal committee focusing on developing collaborative relationships, communication, education and partnerships.

He is also a member of the Chatham-Kent Crime Prevention Board and the Victim Services Board.
