A campaign is underway in an attempt to get more Indigenous voters to the polls in the upcoming federal election.

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples has launched the “Our Land, Our Vote” campaign, providing an online hub to help Indigenous, Métis and Inuit voters in making informed choices. The site includes voter information, details on political parties, a list of indigenous candidates, and other resources.

From 2019 to 2021, reserve voter turnout was down 7.3 per cent across Canada, compared to a 4.4 percent drop in overall voter turnout.

For the April 28th election voters on Walpole Island First Nation will vote as part of the newly formed federal riding of Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong, while voters in the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown are part of the Chatham-Kent-Leamington electoral district.
