It’s the end of an area at the Civic Centre.

Wallaceburg Councillor Jeff Wesley has no regrets as he leaves municipal politics for the legal field.

“There’s a lot of good memories because there’s a lot of good people,” Wesley says. “I’ve worked wit ha lot of good people both around the council horseshoe, within the staff, and out in the public.”

Wesley attended his last council meeting as a councillor last night, and says having plans for the new power plant at the Wallaceburg site of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance given the green light was the perfect cap on his political career.

Looking back on the last term of Council, CAO Don Shropshire says they’ve accomplished a lot in the past 4 years.

The biggest highlight – unemployment.

“This council has consistently provided leadership and set as a priority getting jobs ot this community,” Shropshire explains. “Now we’re actually under the provincial and national average, we’re hovering between 5-6%, that’s a huge accomplishment.”

Shropshire says another big highlight is a projected increase in population, particularly when it comes to young adults.
