Despite a slightly lower turnout than last year, organizers are pleased with this year’s Tampon Tuesday donation drive.

Officials with the United Way of Chatham-Kent say over 2000 menstrual products and other hygiene items were dropped off yesterday, compared to more than 2500 donated in 2021.

“The price of period products have risen approximately 9% in the last year, so we understand that it may become harder and harder for people to donate, even as more people are in need,” says spokesperson Karen Green.

The proceeds will now be distributed to 22 community programs and agencies across Chatham-Kent to support girls and women in need.
