Chatham-Kent council has been given a quarterly financial update on the status of a proposed arena complex on Monday night.
Earlier this year, council gave the go-ahead to proceed with primary architectural work and land acquisition options for the proposed sports complex.
Chatham-Kent has applied for grants from senior levels of government for the twin-pad arena and multi-sport complex.
Although municipal officials haven’t heard any news on potential funding, they’ve already spent $305,000 towards the project, according to a report from administration.
The municipality has spent almost $240,000 on environmental testing at the municipality owned perimeter on the former Navistar property on Richmond Street, a site being considered for the project.
Another $65,000 has been spent on architectural design and consulting services.
