Local residents have shown their generosity once again.

Volunteers with the Chatham Goodfellows spread out across the community last night, collecting donations for the annual Porchlight portion of the No Child Without a Christmas campaign.

In all, $53,199 was raised, along with 1500-2000 toys and 120 banana boxes full of food.

That’s down from last year’s totals of just over $57,000, bur organizers say they are humbled by the support.

Next up, the Goodfellows will be holding the Street Sales portion of the campaign on December 12 and 13.

Toy packing will take place from December 8-11 at the former Peavy Mart on St Clair Street, with deliveries on December 17th.

Food packing and delivery takes place December 18th out of the Spirit and life Center in Chatham.
